Bringing back the old times-Primary Care Doctors are so busy because of all the paper work insurance companies make them do and because of how little they get paid by insurances for a visit (and that is if they get paid) that they have to struggle to have any life of their own. This leaves the patient with other medical providers to take care of many of their needs, because the doctor just cannot do it all.
A few doctors are running their practices more like the old days when there was time to see patients, answer phone calls themselves, and be on-call 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Thus, the principle of "concierge" medicine. The reason the doctor can do this is because the patient pays extra for this more personalized care, in addition to the actual doctor visits which are covered by insurance (to some degree for most). This does not make the doctor richer, but allows for less patients in the practice so more personalized care can be given. That is more satisfying for both the patient and the doctor.
